ZVI-ZVI

The invitation to participate in Tillanzia came at a very precise moment, when it seemed to me that everything was converging, almost miraculously, in two syllables: zvi-zvi.
Thinking back on my practice, which approaches presence as a form of resistance, my current research into the process that draws closer to an end, my recent works, and my use of inarticulate voice, ticking, whistling and other sounds, I came across a fortuitous reading, a gift: the letters Rosa Luxemburg wrote from prison, in which she describes the song of the great tit through the syllables zvi-zvi.
«On my tombstone nothing is to be written but two syllables: zvi-zvi. For that is the call of the great titmouse, which I imitate so well that a huge number of them flock to me every time I make the sound. And just imagine, in this zvi-zvi, which before shone clear and sharp like a steel needle, for a few days now there has been a tiny trill, a minuscule chest note. And do you know, Miss Jacob, what this means? It is the first slight tremor of approaching spring; despite the snow, the frost, and the solitude, we—the great tits and I—believe in the coming of spring!» — Rosa Luxemburg, The Letters of Rosa Luxemburg
Zvi-zvi is a sound that is already a small performance. It is a contradiction that holds together an ending and another possibility.
During the performance, between the different variations of this sonic form and the density of the body taking shape through a necessary duration, a presence inscribed within the threshold emerges.
